Entry Clearance

Entry Clearance is given to everyone that is accepted in applying for a UK Visa to enter the UK, as well as those that are considered commonwealth and non-visa nationals, who intend to stay in the UK for an extended period of six months or more.

If you want to enter the UK, you must apply for Entry Clearance or a UK Visa, and this is regardless of the amount of time you plan on staying. When one is granted a UK Visa, the documentation given to the person will always state a valid from and to date; different visas and different purposes for the visits will vary in the duration that is granted. The dates indicate how long an individual is allowed to stay in the UK for and when the individual should return home.

Depending on which type of UK Visa is applied for, eligibility differs and the requirements vary, but there are a number of things that are taken into account for all visas, regardless of the type of entry clearance that is being applied for.

The individual must prove that their stay will be good for the UK economy, while demonstrating a valid reason for wanting to enter the UK, and ensure that proof for this is shown and that the proof provided meets the requirements set by the immigration law.

When the UK Visa sought after is one that relates to employment, such as a UK Work Permit, the applicant must be able to provide proof of any qualifications or job offers.

In all visa applications, applicants will be asked to provide documentation for proof and each document will be scouted and checked by the Entry Clearance team prior to processing your application.

Sometimes, applicants may be asked to meet an Immigration Officer for an interview, where a series of questions will be asked and areas of the application researched. This helps the Immigration Office come to a decision.
